In this day of classic car investment and squirrelling away prized possessions to ensure they fetch ever greater values at auction, the Goodwood Revival is a motoring festival that stands out from the crowd. Here, billions of pounds worth of some of the rarest cars in the world not only turn a wheel in anger, they also race… and crash.
Festival-goers get into the spirit and step back in time by donning costumes from the 1940s to 1960s, with the car park at the sprawling Goodwood grounds often providing as much, if not more, entertainment than the action on the circuit itself.
Most of this year’s shots were taken at the Kinrara Trophy on the Friday evening. It was won by a Ferrari 250 GTO and is probably the most expensive race in the world outside of F1 – and definitely the most glamourous. A spectacular sunset added to the affair this year.
Take a look at some of the photos snared from this year and like any slick money-spinning operation, tickets are already on sale for next year’s event.
