The E-Bike was once a heavy, bulky and unattractive thing to behold. If you’ve ever tried lugging early versions on and off a train, you’ll know exactly what we mean.
But like so much else in this life, technology has improved, become lighter and more compact, meaning electronic propulsion for your two wheeled steed now comes without the pitfalls.
German manufacturer Riese & Müller specialises in beautifully engineered E-Bikes and its latest range is both extremely handsome and boasts some seriously clever tech.
The Riese & Müller Supercharger Mountain packs a powerful Bosch Performance CX electric motor, which delivers up to 300 per cent pedal assistance – or 75Nm of torque – at pedal strokes of up to 120rpm.
A special eMTB mode, which is selected via a smart Intuvia Display, provides progressive motor assistance that automatically adapts to the individual riding style regardless of pedal pressure. This ensures optimum assistance at all times, which helps deliver the correct amount of assistance and preserves battery life on climbs.
On top of this, the Riese & Müller Supercharger Mountain is one of the first bikes to offer two Bosch PowerTube batteries that are fully integrated into the top tube and down tube, which provides up to 70km of unadulterated riding on a single charge without adding too much extra weight.
Take a look along the frame and you’ll notice a ton of other clever engineering features, including the beautiful welds, integrated battery and motor, built in 100-lux headlamp and slots for a sexy cage-less water bottle from Fabric.
