Back in 1962, Jack Heuer created a legend – the Autavia chronograph. This month, the Honorary President of TAG Heuer turned 85 and, to celebrate, the company that bears his name let the octogenarian design a special edition version of the iconic timepiece.
Limited to 1,932 pieces – the year of Mr Heuer’s birth – the Autavia Jack Heuer Anniversary Edition measures 42mm across the polished steel case, slightly larger than the standard 39mm chronograph.
Mixing modern and vintage design touches, the Jack Heuer Autavia features a black aluminium 12-hour bezel surrounding a silver dial with three black inset chrono dials (each with a snailed finish).
There are also ‘mushroom’ push buttons, the simplified Heuer logo and a ‘grains-of-rice’ steel bracelet to complete the retro aesthetic.
On the specs front, there’s the new Heuer-02 automatic movement, providing an impressive 80-hour power reserve, a date window at 6 o’clock and water resistance up to 100 hours (should you decide to get adventurous with this limited edition chrono).
